OXG Builds FTTH Network in Worms, Offering High-Speed Internet to Residents

In an exciting development for the city of Worms, OXG is constructing a Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network. This cutting-edge technology will bring high-speed internet directly into homes, revolutionising digital connectivity in the region.

The expansion project is currently underway, and interested parties can provide their consent for a glass fibre connection during the construction phase via a digital and paperless process on www.oxg.de/zustimmen. Consent from homeowners is required for this upgrade, but the good news is that it's possible to switch to glass fibre internet at a later time.

The FTTH network refers to the connection method in which the fiber optic cable is laid right into homes. In Worms, the glass fibre cable will be laid underground into every residential unit, enabling transmission speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s and more. This new fiber optic technology promises to transform the way residents access and enjoy their digital world.

The distribution network, laid on public land, spans nearly 82 kilometers. This modern fiber optic connection could potentially increase property value, making it an attractive proposition for homeowners and investors alike.

OXG is committed to building an open glass fibre network, allowing residents to choose their internet provider. Vodafone, 1&1, and Bahnhof Network have announced plans to market end-customer products over the OXG glass fibre network from 2026, providing a competitive market for internet services.

It's important to note that the expansion in Worms is independent of a pre-marketing quota. Further information about the expansion can be found on www.oxg.de/worms.

Beyond Worms, OXG Glasfaser GmbH plans to equip cities in the Taunus region and Herford with fiber optic infrastructure in the coming years. This commitment to digital transformation will undoubtedly bring significant benefits to these communities, further cementing OXG's role as a leading provider of high-speed internet solutions.
