Dormagen, a city known for its strength in diversity, is preparing for an important event β the Integration Council election scheduled for September 14, 2025. This election presents an opportunity for eligible voters to make a difference and help shape the future of their community.
Every vote strengthens unity and ensures that Dormagen remains a city where everyone has a future. The Integration Council, the only democratic organ for many, is the central body where the work of the city council and administration is critically accompanied. It presents concerns to the city and works solution-oriented towards their implementation, representing residents with international family backgrounds.
A voting notice will be automatically sent by post no later than August 24. Eligible voters for the Integration Council include people with foreign citizenship, naturalized citizens, expellees, recognized refugees, stateless persons, and those with German citizenship by birth whose parents have foreign citizenship. Those who have not received the voting notice by then can contact the election office at 02133 257 3290.
To vote, individuals must be at least 16 years old, have legal residence in Germany for at least one year, and have a primary residence in Dormagen for at least 16 days before the election. Eligible voters not listed in the voter registry can still register until September 2 by providing the necessary documents.
Seven lists and one individual candidate are running for the election on September 14. The parties and groups include the list of the Freien, the list of Vielfalt, RΓ»ken - the German-Kurdish Association in Dormagen, the Afghan list, Rojnas Institution for Yazidi solidarity, and the individual candidate Berthold Gericke.
