Women's soccer team from Syracuse faces off against Princeton, resulting in a scoreless standoff
Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse women's soccer team played a hard-fought match against Princeton on Sunday, ending in a 0-0 tie. The match was a defensive battle, with Syracuse outshot 31-9 by the Tigers.
Senior goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch was the standout player for Syracuse, making a season-best 10 saves, including several acrobatic second-half stops against Nina Cantor and Kayla Wong. Vanderbosch's first stop of the match marked the 300th of her career, moving her to third on the program's all-time saves list with 309 saves.
Vita Naihin had the best opportunity for Syracuse when her strike rattled the crossbar in the 77th minute. Mia Klammer also had a chance to win the match for Syracuse in the final seconds, but her shot sailed high.
The match against Princeton was Syracuse's first scoreless draw since last September. Kyle Evans, who leads sports coverage and hosts the Concrete Jungle podcast, commented on the match, saying, "It was a defensive struggle, but Shea Vanderbosch was outstanding in goal, making save after save to keep the match scoreless."
Looking ahead, Syracuse will host Binghamton on Thursday, September 4. The match will be Syracuse's home game, and fans are encouraged to come out and support the team.
