Woman let go due to her being a female

In the Innviertel region, a woman has recently been awarded damages after a successful case of gender-based discrimination was brought against a local slaughterhouse. The employment relationship, which lasted just two weeks, was terminated prematurely, with the individual let go from their position.

The woman was hired by the managing director of the slaughterhouse but was dismissed after a brief period, with her termination taking place shortly after the start of her employment. Her direct supervisor reportedly did not want a woman in the department, leading to the unfortunate incident.

The case was reported to the Workers' Chamber, who took action against the slaughterhouse. The company, following the threat of legal action, paid the woman her outstanding wages and a compensation of 4,500 euros.

Despite extensive search efforts, the name of the managing director who dismissed the woman two weeks after the induction briefing remains undisclosed.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing fight against gender-based discrimination in the workplace. The slaughterhouse's actions not only violated the woman's rights but also tarnished their reputation in the region.

The brief length of employment and the termination of the relationship after such a short duration further underscores the gravity of the situation. The slaughterhouse's actions have sent a strong message, but it is hoped that such instances will become increasingly rare as awareness and understanding of equality issues continue to grow.
