Wolfenbüttel's 22nd 'Day of Encounter' unites cultures through dialogue and celebration

Wolfenbüttel hosted its 22nd annual 'Day of Encounter' to celebrate cultural diversity and community bonds. The event brought together residents, local groups, and migrant-led organisations for a day of dialogue and shared experiences. Activities ranged from live performances to interactive workshops, all aimed at fostering connection. The Migration Working Group organised the event, with backing from local authorities. Deputy District Administrator Christiane Wagner-Judith opened the day by reflecting on post-WWII integration and its lasting impact on the region. Mayor Ivica Lukanic followed, stressing how openness, respect, and personal encounters shape life in Wolfenbüttel.

Attendees explored creative workshops and hands-on activities throughout the day. On stage, cultural performances showcased music and traditions from different communities. Migrant-led initiatives served regional dishes, while the Roncalli House Welcome Café provided refreshments for visitors. Special 'encounter tables' were set up to encourage conversations among participants. The format allowed people to share stories, build networks, and strengthen ties across backgrounds. Dozens of organisations, including those led by migrants, contributed to the programme.

The event highlighted how diversity and dialogue continue to play a key role in Wolfenbüttel’s social fabric. After 22 years, the Day of Encounter remains a platform for connection, cultural exchange, and community building. Organisers and participants alike looked forward to future editions of the celebration.
