Witnesses' Describe Terror During Deadly Stabbing Incident

In a shocking turn of events, a violent incident occurred at the communal accommodation on Glasewitzer Chaussee in Güstrow on Tuesday evening. The facility, which is the largest of three such establishments in the city, houses mainly Syrian and Afghan refugees.

The incident, which took place on the second floor of the accommodation, left two victims, aged 25 and unspecified, in a critical condition. Tragically, one of the victims, a 25-year-old man, lost his life as a result of the attack. Multiple stab wounds were inflicted on one of the victims.

The suspected perpetrator of the violence is a 23-year-old Afghan resident, who is currently in custody. Some residents claimed that the attacker had consumed alcohol before the incident.

The communal accommodation, located on the outskirts of the city, has been operating at about three-quarters of its total capacity, with 151 places currently occupied. At the end of April, it was reported that the accommodation was at full capacity.

The incident has caused a wave of shock among the residents of the accommodation and the surrounding neighbours. A neighbour, who criticised the location of the community care facility as unfavourable for the integration of residents, stated that the attack makes it difficult for the refugees to make contact with locals and promotes their isolation.

Investigations into the violent incident are ongoing, and the community is left to grapple with the aftermath of this tragic event. Ukrainian refugees, who are increasingly looking for private accommodations, may find this incident a further deterrent to settling in the area.

The other victim, whose age is unknown, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. Another resident reported that the scene was a "bloodbath." The authorities are urging anyone with information relevant to the investigation to come forward and help bring closure to this devastating incident.
