Win $5,000 for a Haunted Weekend at Las Vegas' Infamous El Cortez Hotel

A unique competition is offering a $5,000 prize for a weekend of ghost hunting at one of Las Vegas' most historic locations. The El Cortez Hotel & Casino, known for its mobster past and reported paranormal activity, will host the event. Organisers are now accepting applications from US residents aged 21 and over.

The contest opens on October 6th, 2025, at 12pm EST, with submissions closing on Halloween, October 31st, at the same time. The chosen participant will receive $500 upfront for food, drinks, and ghost-hunting equipment, while flights and accommodation—valued at $800—will be covered by the organisers.

The winner's task involves exploring the hotel's oldest and most unsettling areas, using specialised gear to detect unusual phenomena. Reports of shadowy figures, phantom footsteps, and sudden cold spots have long surrounded the El Cortez, adding to its eerie reputation. To claim the full prize, the selected ghost hunter must document their findings through photos, videos, and a detailed journal. The investigation must be completed by December 8, 2025, with all documentation submitted two days later. Once verified, the remaining $3,250 will be awarded.

The competition provides a rare chance to investigate a historic Las Vegas landmark with a reputation for the supernatural. Successful applicants will receive financial support, equipment, and the opportunity to explore the hotel's haunted corners. The final report will contribute to the ongoing stories about the El Cortez's mysterious past.
