Widow takes Veetian to court over husband's demise
Wife of Deceased Individual Slain by Sex Worker, Alleged Pimp Files Lawsuit Against The Venetian Hotel Casino
Jennifer Jacoby, bereaved spouse of a Colorado man who met a tragic fate at a Las Vegas hotel, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Venetian Casino Resort LLC. The lawsuit alleges the casino's security measures were insufficient and potentially contributed to her husband's death.
As reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Monday, the lawsuit was filed last month following Jeffrey Jacoby's tragic passing in a Palazzo hotel room in March 2023. The widow's suit centers on the alleged failures of Venetian's security, which is owned by Vici Properties and managed by Apollo Global Management.
Fateful encounter at the bar
The story goes that Jeffrey Jacoby met Cheylee Kessee at a Palazzo bar on March 1. In tow was her accomplice, Kashon Glass, a convicted felon. Together, the trio strolled the casino floor before heading to a cashier's cage area, where Jeffrey withdrew $1,000.
After some time, Kessee returned to Jacoby's hotel room, but left only nine minutes later. A concerned Jennifer, who had initiated a worry call several hours prior, discovered her husband's lifeless body on the bathroom floor, apparent victim of a fentanyl overdose.
Security negligence or oversight?
The complaint, which demands a jury trial, alleges that the Palazzo's security personnel should have alerted Jeffrey of the possible threat posed by Glass. Furthermore, the lawsuit claims that the casino could have identified Kessee and Glass due to their history of targeting hotel guests for robberies.
In light of their past offenses, many regard Glass and Kessee as "known dangers," according to UNLV Boyd School of Law professor Ben Edwards. He notes that once guests are invited onto a property, there's an obligation to ensure their safety. The court will now determine if the Palazzo's lack of monitoring or communication was unreasonable in this particular case.
Glass and Kessee later pleaded guilty to charges including voluntary manslaughter and robbery with a deadly weapon. Their track record as a danger to guests adds merit to Jennifer Jacoby's lawsuit, which seeks accountability for the Venetian Casino Resort LLC's alleged security lapses.
The general news in Las Vegas has been shrouded with the crime and justice aspect of a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Jennifer Jacoby against the Venetian Casino Resort LLC, following her husband's demise at the Palazzo hotel. The lawsuit alleges that the casino's security, which is managed by Apollo Global Management, was negligent, as they could have foreseen the threat posed by a known dangerous pair, Cheylee Kessee and Kashon Glass, who were involved in Jeffrey Jacoby's tragic passing.
