WerkRaum Wiesbaden Opens as a Creative Hub for Urban Development on May 2
A new urban development hub called WerkRaum Wiesbaden will open its doors on May 2. Located in the former Sportscheck building, the space will serve as an open forum for creative projects and community exchange. It is part of the World Design Capital Frankfurt RhineMain 2026 (WDC 2026) programme.
The hub will run for six months, closing on October 31. Its central location aims to attract as many visitors as possible, while the building itself follows principles of circularity. WerkRaum Wiesbaden will focus on key themes such as housing, mobility, climate protection, health, nutrition, inclusion, social participation, and democracy promotion.
Numerous partners are supporting the initiative, including the Wiesbaden Department of Culture, Caparol, RheinMain University of Applied Sciences (HSRM), POINT.Architektur, Stadtmuseum am Markt (sam), and Stadtentwicklungsgesellschaft Wiesbaden (SEG Wiesbaden). The hub will connect local and regional initiatives, offering a platform for collaboration and idea-sharing. A detailed list of projects and event dates will be published online before the opening. While no specific projects have been named yet, the space will present a variety of WDC 2026 initiatives from Wiesbaden and the surrounding area.
WerkRaum Wiesbaden will operate as a temporary meeting place for urban development and creative exchange. The hub's focus on accessibility and sustainability aligns with its role in the broader WDC 2026 programme. Organisers plan to release further details about participating projects in the coming weeks.
