Werder and stadium operator BWS had anticipated this situation since a while. The real estate company from Baden-Württemberg (contract until 2029) had failed to pay for a whole year.
Wohninvest's subsidy will no longer be included in this current fiscal year.
Werder's stadium sponsor in financial ruin!
The insolvency process, however, may potentially yield substantial funds for Werder. But it's not probable. Werder and the BWS are ardently seeking alternate sponsors to replace the unpopular real estate company among a significant part of the fan base.
Otto: "We're in discussions with potential candidates for the next sponsors." It's still unclear whether this replacement will be found by the season's beginning.
