Outdoor Activities Abound in Lancaster County
For those seeking adventure and camaraderie, Lancaster County offers a variety of outdoor activities catering to diverse interests. Here are some upcoming events and regular activities hosted by local clubs:
Trap Shooting
The Southern Lancaster County Farmer-Sportsmen's Association, Paradise Sportsman's Association, Conewago Rod & Gun Club, and Manheim Sportsmen's Association all offer public trap shoots. The SLCFSA hosts shoots every Tuesday from 2-7 p.m., while the Conewago Rod & Gun Club provides opportunities on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The Paradise Sportsman's Association and Manheim Sportsmen's Association offer shoots on Thursdays and Saturdays, respectively. Columbia Fish and Game Club

Archery
Indoor archery enthusiasts can visit the Southern Lancaster County Farmer-Sportsmen's Association clubhouse every Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at 742 Hollow Road, New Providence.
Hiking
The Lancaster Hiking Club organises several hikes throughout the month. On Sunday, Sept. 28, a strenuous 12.5-mile hike at Peter's Mountain on the Appalachian Trail is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. from Buchanan Park. A more moderate 5-mile hike at Wolf's Hollow County Park is planned for Sunday, Oct. 19, with a meeting time of 1:15 p.m. at Buchanan Park. For more information, visit lancasterhikingclub.com.

- A new members orientation meeting is set for 2-4 p.m. at the Manheim Sportsmen's Association, 552 Oak Tree Road, Manheim.
- The Southern Lancaster County Farmer-Sportsmen's Association will hold its monthly membership meeting beginning at 7 p.m. at 742 Hollow Road, New Providence.
- The Conewago Rod & Gun Club will hold a weekly public trap shoot from 9 a.m. to noon each Saturday at 1483 Turnpike Road, Elizabethtown.
- The Lancaster Hiking Club will lead a moderate 6-mile hike at Bull Frog/Shank Park on Sunday, Oct. 12, meeting at Buchanan Park at 1:15 p.m.
