Student Spotlight: Ava Marenna, Features Editor at Holy Cross College

Ava Marenna, a junior at Holy Cross College, is a dedicated student with a passion for English and Psychology. Originating from Durham, CT, Ava has made a significant impact on campus through her involvement in various clubs and groups.

As the Features Editor for the 2026 class, Ava plays a crucial role in shaping the college's publication. She is also an active member of the Peer Wellness Coach, Pre Law Society, Campus Activities Board, Purple Key Society, SPUD, and English Department Research Associate.

When she's not immersed in academic pursuits, Ava enjoys unwinding with her favourite TV show, Gilmore Girls. Her musical tastes are diverse, with Noah Kahan and Hozier being her favourite singers/group. Ava's favourite song, however, is It's Been a Year by Tom Rosenthal, and her guilty pleasure is chocolate croissants from Cool Beans.

Ava's favourite color is red, and her favourite book is a three-way tie between The Nightingale, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and The Song of Achilles. Off-campus, she enjoys dining at Via, and her favourite drink at Cool Beans is an iced latte with whole milk. For a meal on campus, Ava prefers Taco Tuesday, but she prefers a burrito bowl with two scoops of guacamole.

Ava's favourite spot on campus is the Main Reading Room in Dinand. Her favourite sports team is the Yankees. One thing Ava would change at Holy Cross is to get the lot back.

Ava has had an eventful time at Holy Cross, with a softball state championship to her name. She also has an embarrassing Holy Cross moment due to secondhand embarrassment from hearing about Andrew O'Connor getting taken out of the Jo on a stretcher. Despite this, Ava's favourite memory at HC is the Spring Concert last year (with Eliza).

Ava's day is made better by small things, such as seeing her roommate Eliza. The last thing she does before going to bed is say goodnight to Eliza, and the first thing she does when she wakes up is look at Eliza. Ava's words to live by are "Keep smiling" - Eliza's dad.

Post-graduation, Ava plans to attend law school and hang out with Eliza afterwards. Ava's favourite place she has traveled to is Turks and Caicos. When she goes home, she looks forward to seeing her dog, Henry.

Despite the busy schedule, Ava always finds time for her favourite movie genre, Horror/Psychological Thrillers. Whether it's studying in the Main Reading Room, enjoying a burrito bowl at Taco Tuesday, or unwinding with her favourite movie, Ava Marenna is a true Holy Cross student.
