In the realm of Battlefield 2042, Morgan Park has established himself as a beat writer, following the latest developments and the communities that play this popular shooter game. One of the recent updates to the game is the introduction of a new map, a futuristic take on the iconic Iwo Jima.

The new map, while not the prettiest version of Iwo Jima, is at least distinct. It features an active volcano that covers the island's lush beaches with ash and molten runoff. This update, part of the final major update 9.2 released in August 2023, brings back the iconic map with modern elements like amphibious landings, bunkers, and trenches.

In addition to the new map, Battlefield 2042 is also hosting a "Road to Battlefield" event. This event offers a free battle pass, which includes new guns and 24 exclusive cosmetics for Battlefield 6. The free battle pass does not include items for Battlefield 2, 2142, and 1943.

The free battle pass includes player cards, icons, and skins referencing past Battlefields, with references dating back to Bad Company 2. It also highlights well-known community members. Every weekend until the free battle pass ends on October 7, players can enjoy double XP weekends. The last two weekends will feature triple XP gains, making it an exciting time for Battlefield 2042 fans.

Playing as a Medic in Breakthrough mode offers high XP gains, making it an attractive option for players looking to level up quickly.

Morgan Park, who is very happy to have a real job now, has previously written for small gaming sites that didn't pay him. He continues to write about strategy games, but prefers not to. He also shares bad jokes in Slack, adding a light-hearted touch to his work.
