Weekend Arrests at Hamburg Airport: BPOL-HH Confirms Two Detentions by Federal Police
In an incident that transpired on Friday, a wanted individual was apprehended at Hamburg Airport. The individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was wanted for fraud.
The wanted person check conducted on the individual revealed that they were wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bremen since April 2025 for driving without a license in two cases and for forgery of documents.
According to the details, the individual presented themselves for air security screening at around 10 a.m. However, a follow-up check of their carry-on luggage was necessary, leading to their apprehension.
In an unexpected turn of events, the individual was unable to raise the required money and contacted their mother-in-law living in Bremen by phone. Unfortunately, she was also unable to obtain the money, informing the individual around 6 p.m.
Despite the financial predicament, the individual was able to pay the total fine amount of 1,800 euros and was then released from the police measure. The cases related to this individual are handled by the Federal Police Inspectorate Airport Hamburg.
In a separate incident on Saturday, a 27-year-old Bulgarian national was controlled by the Federal Police at Hamburg Airport at around 1:30 p.m. The individual was wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Augsburg since March 2025. The original fine for the offenses was 180 daily rates of 30 euros each, totaling 5,400 euros.
However, only a part of the fine had been paid, leaving 171 daily rates (4,130 euros) and additional 20 euros in outstanding fine and 123 euros in procedural costs. The Bulgarian was then taken to the Holstenglacis detention center.
