Wednesday's Police Reports (August 20, 2025)

Yesterday at around 15:45, an incident occurred in the Dautzscher Straße area that has raised concerns. Unknown perpetrators sprayed prohibited graffiti, including the colours of the Reichskriegsflagge and two swastikas. Criminal investigations have been initiated, and a criminal proceeding has been initiated against the suspect.

Later in the day, at approximately 19:40, a dangerous bodily harm incident occurred on the Hallmarkt, affecting two victims. The initial police findings suggest that verbal arguments preceded the incident, but the identities of the suspects remain unspecified in the sources. The victims were transported to local hospitals for further treatment.

On the same day, an attempted aggravated robbery occurred in the South City district. Despite immediate police search efforts, the suspects could not be apprehended.

On Tuesday at 10:15 PM, a disturbance was reported on Geiseltalstraße. A car was playing loud music for several hours, with no one apparently in the vehicle. A 28-year-old driver was stopped in the Merseburger Straße area the following morning. A voluntary breathalyzer test resulted in a reading of 0.8 ‰. An administrative offense procedure was initiated, and the driver was prohibited from continuing their journey.

On Tuesday at 6:45 PM, a broken-down truck was reported on the B100 near Hohenthurm. A report was filed for the misuse of license plates, as the vehicle in question had plates issued for an Audi in Poland and were previously registered in Mansfeld-Südharz. The vehicle, a BMW, was found in the Merseburg area the following day. The BMW has since been decommissioned, and the license plates were confiscated.

On Tuesday, a 23-year-old suspect was caught red-handed by the police in an unrelated incident. During police investigations, a knife was found and seized from the suspect.

Around 09:40 today, a known witness noticed a person attempting to break a bike lock in the Willy-Brandt-Straße area. The police are currently investigating this incident.

Finally, on Tuesday at 15:45, a suspect sprayed pepper spray and assaulted a victim with punches and kicks. The victim was struck and kicked, resulting in injuries. The incident occurred at around 21:45, and a police patrol arrived to secure the scene. The suspect could not be apprehended.

The city authorities urge anyone with information regarding these incidents to come forward and contact the police. The use of prohibited symbols and acts of violence have no place in our society, and those responsible will be brought to justice.
