Website Showcasing CSD Offerings and Festivities
The city of Wuppertal is gearing up for a vibrant and inclusive event as the CSD 2025 (Christopher Street Day) kicks off on August 8, 2025, marking the beginning of the "Weeks of Diversity" that run until September 21.
The festivities will commence at 12 pm on Johannes-Rau-Platz, right in front of the town hall, where the stage program and information booths will be open. The event aims to strengthen the visibility of the queer community and combat discrimination, fostering a sense of unity and solidarity.
The CSD 2025 is more than just a parade. It's a platform for various performances by artists, a "Queer Fair" featuring art and second-hand offers, a "Drag Story Hour" at the city library, and a game night at "Inside:Out".
The highlight of the day will be the kick-off demonstration at Berliner Platz in Oberbarmen, followed by the event procession moving via the B7 into the Barmer city center. A large queer show is planned as part of the events, promising an evening filled with entertainment.
Mayor Uwe Schneidewind will deliver a greeting speech, reiterating the city's commitment to promoting diversity, solidarity, and equality.
The "Hood Cuisine" project will offer vegetarian-vegan cuisine and drink stands, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the festivities.
Initiatives like the Women's Counseling Center Wuppertal, "Inside:Out", "Schlau Wuppertal", and the AIDS Help Wuppertal will be present, providing information and resources for the community.
Moreover, a "Queer Clothing Swap" at the Queer Living Room of the SKJ is part of the events, encouraging sustainability and community spirit.
The "Schlau" info evening for teachers on "Queer Empowerment" is another event aimed at educating and fostering understanding and acceptance.
Photos of buildings and poles with rainbow flags are welcome for the homepage and social media, symbolising the city's support for the queer community.
Many institutions, companies, and the city administration are flying rainbow flags on their buildings, a visual representation of their commitment to the cause.
The CSD 2025 in Wuppertal is not just a celebration; it's a statement, a testament to the city's dedication to promoting diversity, solidarity, and equality while increasing visibility for the queer community and fighting discrimination. Join us in August 2025 for a day of fun, learning, and solidarity.
