Warrant Issued for Arrest of Individual Allegedly Supporting the Terrorist Group Islamic State (IS)

In a significant development, the Federal Prosecutor's Office in Germany has obtained an arrest warrant against Russian national Akhmad E. The warrant, issued by the investigating judge of the Federal Court of Justice on June 5, 2025, replaces an earlier one issued by the Brandenburg an der Havel Local Court on February 21, 2025.

Akhmad E. has been in custody since his arrest at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, where he was apprehended on his way to boarding. The charges against him are based on German criminal law (StGB) and are related to his alleged activities abroad.

The arrest warrant alleges specific facts against Akhmad E. that are not detailed in this article. However, it is known that he is accused of preparation of a serious act of violence endangering the state (§ 89a Abs. 2 StGB), attempted membership in a terrorist organization abroad (§ 129a Abs. 1 Nr. 1, § 129b Abs. 1, §§ 22, 23 StGB), and supporting a terrorist organization abroad (§ 105 JGG).

Furthermore, Akhmad E. is strongly suspected of supporting a terrorist organization abroad as a juvenile (§ 105 JGG). He is also accused of translating propaganda material for the foreign terrorist organization "Islamic State (IS)" into Russian and Chechen.

On February 20, 2025, Akhmad E. intended to travel to the IS operational area, join the organization, and receive military training. He is a supporter of the foreign terrorist organization "Islamic State (IS)".

The Federal Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigations previously conducted by the Brandenburg General Prosecutor's Office. Akhmad E. was presented to the investigating judge of the Federal Court of Justice today.

No public information is available about who ordered the Federal Constitutional Court to issue an arrest warrant against Akhmad E. on June 5, 2025, before he was suspected of terrorism. For inquiries, the Federal Prosecutor's Office can be contacted at the provided contact information.
