Volvo's XC70 model abandons its former wagon design and reinvents itself as a full-fledged crossover vehicle.

Volvo has introduced a new addition to its SUV lineup, the XC70. This latest model, built on the new Scalable Modular Architecture (SMA), is designed to cater to families seeking a more comfortable and relaxed lifestyle.

The XC70 boasts a range of advanced features, including "Safe Space Technology" and cutting-edge sensing technology. The vehicle's exterior is characterised by plastic body cladding, C-shaped taillights, an angular rear window, and streamlined bodywork. The XC70 also features rounded wheel arches, flush-mounted door handles, frameless doors, and a panoramic glass roof, giving it a sleek and modern appearance.

At the front, the XC70 sports matrix LED headlights and a fully enclosed grille similar to Volvo's electric vehicles. A lower intake with an active shutter can be found beneath the headlights, contributing to the vehicle's aerodynamic design.

The XC70 comes equipped with an AI-powered voice assistant, making it easy to control various car functions and conduct online searches. The interior of the XC70 features a minimalist five-seat cabin with a digital instrument cluster, a freestanding infotainment system, and an available 92-inch augmented reality head-up display. The cabin also includes heated rear seats, ambient lighting, and a tri-zone climate control system with a dedicated rear display.

The XC70's interior is further enhanced by a floating center console with a retractable 'bridge' of cup holders, wood trim, a wireless smartphone charger, and a Harman Kardon audio system.

The XC70 is available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants. The front-wheel drive variant delivers a combined output of 314 hp (234 kW/ 318 PS) and accelerates from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in eight seconds flat. Customers can opt for an "ultra-long-range" variant, which features an all-wheel drive system producing 456 hp (340 kW / 462 PS), cutting the 0-62 mph (0-96 km/h) time to 5.3 seconds.

The XC70's 39.6 kWh battery can be recharged from 0% to 80% in approximately 23 minutes with a DC fast charger. With a 7 kW AC wallbox charger, the XC70 can be fully recharged in around 7 hours. The larger 39.6 kWh battery in the "ultra-long-range" variant increases the electric-only range to 112 miles (180 km).

The XC70 also boasts a bi-directional charging capability, allowing it to act as a power bank for various uses. The XC70's battery pack delivers a WLTC range of up to 72 miles (116 km).

The developer of the platform type used in the new Volvo XC70 is ECARX, which provides the Antora® 1000 Pro computing platform and Cloudpeak® cross-domain software stack powering the intelligent cockpit of the Volvo XC70 hybrid mid-size luxury SUV. This model debuted globally and began pre-sales on August 27, 2025.

With its combination of luxury, advanced technology, and environmental consciousness, the XC70 is set to redefine the SUV market.
