In just under a month, on September 14, 2025, the municipal elections will take place in Gütersloh, North Rhine-Westphalia. Here's what you need to know to ensure a smooth voting process.

Polling stations in Gütersloh will be open from 8 am to 6 pm on election Sunday. Voters are advised to check their voting notice to ensure they visit the correct polling station on election day.

With approximately 80,000 eligible voters for the municipal elections, the city encourages voters to pay close attention to their voting notice and apply for mail-in voting materials in time if needed. The mail-in voting office at City Hall is open Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm and Friday from 8 am to 3 pm. Mail-in voting materials can still be obtained and completed in person at City Hall until September 12, 2025, at 3 pm.

Replacements for mail-in voting materials can be picked up at City Hall during its opening hours and on Saturday, September 13, from 9 am to 12 pm. It's important to note that the online application for mail-in voting materials has been closed. Voters are requested to bring their voting notice and a valid ID to the polling station or the mail-in voting office at City Hall.

The voting districts in Gütersloh have been redrawn for the municipal elections. For the election of the Integration Council, around 31,800 people in Gütersloh are eligible to vote. If you are unable to vote in person, you can appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf. To do so, contact the city administration at 05241 / 82-39 39. A proxy can pick up mail-in voting materials for a sick voter until 3 pm on election day, with a written power of attorney.

Mayor Matthias Trepper, who was elected in 2024 and whose current term runs until October 31, 2030, has urged a high voter turnout, stating "Every vote counts - make use of your right to vote." The next mayoral election in Gütersloh will be after this date, with no mayoral election scheduled for 2025 in the city.

The city of Gütersloh encourages all eligible voters to take part in the upcoming municipal elections. Don't forget, your vote matters! Mail-in ballots must arrive at City Hall by Sunday, September 14, at 4 pm.
