In a significant milestone for Holy Cross University students, Trivflic, a gamified social media trivia app, has been launched and is now available for download on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. The co-founders of Trivflic, Thomas Haigh (T.J.) from Central Massachusetts and David Luigs from Atlanta, Georgia, are both sophomores at the university.

T.J. and David's entrepreneurial journey began when they were accepted into the highly selective StartUP Worcester program, a collaborative effort by the Worcester Chamber of Commerce, WorcLab, Berkshire Bank, Venture Forum, and SCORE. This was just the beginning of their journey, as they went on to develop Trivflic as part of the HC Launch initiative via the Ciocca Center of Business, Ethics, and Society at Holy Cross.

The inspiration for Trivflic came from unexpected sources. T.J. was inspired while skiing down Mount Wachusett, while David enjoyed doing trivia nights with his family every Monday night. This shared passion led them to fill a void in trivia social media, citing the relative obscurity of Trivia Crack and HQ Trivia as their motivation.

Trivflic's development process took nearly 15 months, during which the co-founders designed, fundraised, and networked extensively. The app's development team includes international coding teams from India, Philippines, Pakistan, Argentina, Brazil, Turkey, Germany, and other locations.

The hard work and dedication of T.J. and David paid off when Trivflic won first prize for the business ideas in the "Concept Stage" at the 10th annual Shark Tank hosted by HC Launch and the Ciocca Center. Matt Nickerson '24, who is the Chief Features Editor and also a staff writer at the publication, covered this story in the "features" section.

At launch, Trivflic will only be available to download in the US and Canada due to licensing restrictions in other regions. Despite this, the future looks bright for this innovative trivia app, and we look forward to seeing how it evolves and grows in the coming months.
