Virginia's casino earnings soared by 30.4% compared to the same period last year in August
In August, casinos in Virginia experienced a notable boost in revenues, with the total earnings reaching $84.4 million, marking a 30.4% year-over-year increase. A report published by the Virginia Lottery showcases this growth.
The Hard Rock Bristol led the pack, generating $22.3 million in August, a substantial 40% increase from the $15.9 million earned last year. This growth extended to their table games and slots, with table games revenue rising by 40%, from $2.7 million to $3.7 million, and slot revenue skyrocketing by 40%, from $13.3 million to $18.6 million.
Rivers Casino Portsmouth also saw an uptick in revenues, with table games revenue increasing by 1.5%, from $7.5 million to $7.6 million. Slot revenue, however, witnessed a more significant surge, growing by 6.2%, from $19.2 million to $20.4 million. This resulted in a total revenue of $28.08 million, a 5.2% increase from $26.6 million the year prior.
Caesars Virginia, another major player in the Virginia casino scene, reported an impressive 68.4% year-over-year revenue increase. The casino generated $84.8 million last month, with table games revenue soaring by 64% from the year prior, reaching $7.9 million. The profits from slots increased by an astounding 70%, resulting in $26.5 million in earnings. The profits from table games, while lower than the previous year at $4.8 million, still represented a growth of 64%.
This impressive growth in Virginia's casino revenues is not limited to individual casinos. Statewide, table games revenue increased by 28.7%, from $14.9 million to $19.2 million. Slots, too, saw a significant year-over-year increase of 36.3%, with profits rising from $48.1 million to $65.6 million. Overall, this led to a statewide revenue increase of 30.4%.
