Violent assault inflicted through hitting and striking
A violent assault took place in the Märkisches Quarter this morning, leaving several people injured. The incident occurred around 8:30 AM at a kiosk on Wesendorfer Straße, where a 33-year-old suspect attacked a 64-year-old customer and a 72-year-old kiosk owner with brass knuckles.
The assault was followed by a series of disturbing events. The suspect fled the scene, insulting a 43-year-old passerby before striking him with manhole covers. The passerby sustained head and arm injuries and was taken to a hospital for outpatient treatment. Fortunately, he has since been discharged from the hospital.
The suspect then fled to a multi-family dwelling on Senftenberger Ring. There, he damaged an elevator window, sustaining a severe hand injury. The brass knuckles used in the assault were seized nearby.
The police officers arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect. The 33-year-old is currently in police custody. The authorities are investigating the incident as a potential hate crime due to the offensive language used during the assault.
The kiosk owner and the 64-year-old customer are recovering from their injuries. The attacker's motive for the assault remains unclear.
