There is a lady, children and a man in santa claus dress. Man is wearing specs and gloves. Boy is holding a packet. In the back there is a Christmas tree with decorations. Also there is a wall with rocks. Near to that there are toys and some decorations. There is a basket with some items. In the back there are lights.

Villingen-Schwenningen Sends 54 Gift Boxes to Children in Need This Holiday

A small but meaningful contribution has come from Villingen-Schwenningen this festive season. The city’s administration joined the global Operation Christmas Child campaign, packing 54 shoeboxes filled with gifts for disadvantaged children. The initiative, run by the Christian aid group Samaritan’s Purse, has reached millions worldwide in recent years.

City employees, along with children from local kindergartens and primary schools, filled the boxes with toys, warm clothing, and small surprises. Their effort adds to last year’s global total of 11.9 million gift boxes, including around 294,000 from German-speaking regions.

The 54 shoeboxes will now join thousands of others on their journey to children facing hardship. The city’s involvement highlights a growing tradition of community-driven giving during the holiday season. Each box represents a direct connection between local donors and young recipients around the world.
