Village residents detain alleged bicycle thieves, waiting for the arrival of law enforcement in Schopfheim

In the heart of Freiburg, Germany, two suspected bicycle thieves were apprehended on August 25, 2025, according to a report from news aktuell at Police Headquarters Freiburg.

The arrest took place around 3:00 PM on Wehratalstraße, following a vigilant effort from local residents. The suspects, a 17-year-old juvenile and an 18-year-old youth, were detained by the villagers and held until the police arrived.

The Pedelec, a white Cube-brand bicycle estimated to be worth approximately €2,300, was reportedly stolen from Rauschbachstraße. The suspects were seen with the stolen vehicle during the incident.
