Victory smiles upon Bittalemon as James Moffatt's filly continues to succeed at Cartmel, a fortunate hunting ground for the racing team.
Local Horse Bittalemon Claims Victory in Novice Hurdle at Cartmel
In a thrilling finish at the Cartmel racecourse, local horse Bittalemon emerged victorious in a novice hurdle, outpacing Winds Of Winter by a neck. The four-year-old, trained exclusively by James Moffatt since arriving from William Haggas's yard, made virtually all the running under Charlotte Jones' expert guidance.
Bittalemon's triumphant race marked a significant milestone for Moffatt, who also celebrated a 2m1f novice hurdle win at the local track with the horse earlier this season. The trainer expressed his satisfaction with Bittalemon's performance, noting that the horse might perform even better on softer ground.
Meanwhile, in a different race, Bright Skies, a nine-year-old horse trained by Donald McCain, defied its 22-1 odds to claim the 2m1f Cartmel Cup Handicap Hurdle. Ridden by Brian Hughes, Bright Skies made pretty much all the running in the race, reclaiming the lead and winning by a neck over Winds Of Winter.
The owner of both horses, Andreas Suborics, is a stats-oriented individual who has chosen to utilise Bright Skies' jumping abilities in races. Suborics, who is also the owner of Bright Skies, was delighted with the horse's fifth appearance at the course, where it managed to defy the odds and secure a win.
Bittalemon's victory came after a hard-fought battle with Hamlet's Night, with the horse being hard-ridden to fend off the challenge after the last hurdle. In the end, Bittalemon crossed the finish line with a length and three-quarters advantage over Hamlet's Night.
The owner of Bittalemon, who prefers to keep a low profile, has been supportive of the horse's racing career and is looking forward to future successes. With Bittalemon's impressive performance at Cartmel, it seems that the future is indeed bright for this local horse.
