Verstappen and Antonelli eye Nürburgring endurance racing partnership

Max Verstappen and rising star Kimi Antonelli share a growing passion for GT racing. The Red Bull driver has already tasted success on the Nordschleife, while the young Italian dreams of teaming up with him in endurance events. Both are now eyeing future challenges at the Nürburgring's iconic circuit.

Verstappen made headlines last year by winning a GT3 race on the Nordschleife. Partnering with Chris Lulham in a Ferrari 296 GT3, he secured victory in a competitive field. This experience deepened his enthusiasm for GT cars, prompting him to consider the 24 Hours of Nürburgring as his next target.

Antonelli's connection to GT racing runs deeper. His father owns a GT team, and the 18-year-old has spent years testing whenever possible. Inspired by Verstappen's karting antics, Antonelli recently entered a Daytona race under the pseudonym 'Henry Shovlin'. Despite wet conditions, he dominated the field, setting the fastest lap by over three seconds. The young driver has also expressed a strong desire to race on the Nordschleife. He admitted to enquiring about testing opportunities there, eager to experience its challenges firsthand. When asked about the idea of sharing a car with Verstappen, Antonelli called it 'pretty amazing'. He believes they would form a 'seriously strong duo' in endurance racing.

Verstappen has yet to compete in the 24-Stunden-Rennen-Serie, but his interest in the event remains clear. Antonelli, meanwhile, continues to chase his own GT ambitions, with a potential partnership between the two now a topic of discussion. Their shared enthusiasm could soon bring them together on one of motorsport's toughest stages.
