Vehicular Propulsion: Flotillas Adopting Electric Power

The electric vehicle (EV) subscription provider, Vibe Moves You, has commissioned a study by Dataforce that outlines both the opportunities and current challenges in the adoption of electric mobility by fleets. The survey, which focused on fleets in Germany, reveals a significant trend towards electrification among fleet managers.

According to the study, more than three out of four fleets in Germany are increasingly adopting electric mobility, with larger fleets (20 or more vehicles) showing a particularly noticeable shift. In fact, some large fleets have reached up to 95% adoption of electric mobility.

The trend is not limited to large companies alone. More than one in three fleets in Germany have taken initial steps towards electric mobility, while electric mobility is playing an increasingly significant role in 23% of German fleets, with 7% already fully electric.

German companies intensifying the adoption of electromobility recently include major automakers like Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and Bosch, who are pushing electric vehicle technologies as leading future options. However, complete transition timelines vary, and full phases-out of combustion engines are still debated.

Despite the growing trend, fleet managers from smaller fleets are sometimes hesitant about adopting electric mobility. The study did not provide specific information on this aspect.

The study also did not mention the percentage of German fleets that have already fully transitioned to electric mobility, or any specific flexible offers enabling people to experience electric mobility firsthand. Neither did it provide information on fleets incorporating electric vehicles into their own model range or installing charging stations at their company.

The Dataforce study highlights that the trend of electric mobility adoption is rising among fleet managers, making them pioneers in this area. The study was based on surveys conducted with a total of 201 fleet managers from larger and smaller fleets in Germany. The results suggest that electric mobility is set to play a major role in the future of fleet management in Germany.
