Vehicle teeters dangerously over river bridge following fence collapse

In the early hours of Saturday morning, a dramatic incident unfolded in Sambalpur, Odisha, as a sand-laden truck crashed into a bridge parapet near Kandhara village. The truck, which was transporting sand from the Mahanadi riverbank, remained suspended from the damaged bridge parapet for several hours, causing a tense situation for passersby and authorities alike.

Fortunately, the incident did not cause any reported casualties other than the driver, Ramesh Dehury, who hails from Charmal in Sambalpur district. Ramesh sustained injuries to multiple parts of his body and was successfully rescued by firefighters and rescue personnel who worked tirelessly to extricate him from the suspended vehicle.

Ramesh was rushed to Rairakhol Hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition and out of danger.

The authority responsible for planning and executing the safe removal of the suspended truck is typically the local emergency services or the disaster protection agency (Katastrophenschutz) in coordination with relevant municipal and traffic authorities. They handle such operations to ensure public safety and traffic security.
