Vehicle Operator Collides with Passing Pedestrian
In Gropiusstadt yesterday morning, a traffic accident occurred that involved a pedestrian and a truck on Fritz-Erler-Allee. The incident took place at the intersection with Otto-Wels-Ring around 10:45 AM.
The pedestrian, a 64-year-old man, was crossing the lane at a red light when he was hit by a truck heading towards Johannisthal. As a result, the man sustained injuries to his legs.
Immediately following the accident, the rescue services were called to the scene and transported the 64-year-old to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, despite the incident, there is no risk to his life.
The Fritz-Erler-Allee was closed to vehicle traffic between Grüner Weg and Zadekstraße until about 12:40 PM, also affecting the M46 bus line. The closure was necessary to allow the rescue services to attend to the accident and for the police to conduct their investigation.
The investigation of the traffic accident has been taken over by a specialized commission for traffic offenses of the police directorate 4 (South). The commission is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The 64-year-old man was admitted as an inpatient in the hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment for his injuries. Our thoughts are with him during this difficult time.
It is important to remember to always be cautious when crossing the road, especially at intersections, and to follow traffic signals to ensure the safety of all road users.
