Traffic Accident in Hürth: Three Severely Injured

A serious traffic accident occurred in Hürth, Germany, on August 27, 2020. The incident took place between Kölner Straße and Berrenratherstraße, causing the accident site to be closed for several hours, from around 10:30 PM until around 3:45 AM the next day.

Police officers from the Rhein-Erft-Kreis arrived at the scene, assisted by the Cologne Police's traffic accident recording team. The impact of the accident was severe, resulting in injuries to three individuals: a male driver (37), a female driver (31), and her baby.

The male driver (37) was driving a Smart car. According to a witness, he was driving in a zigzag pattern before the accident. The male driver (37) veered off the road to the left, hit a tree, and then collided with an oncoming Suzuki. Another driver (21) in a Mercedes was also involved in the accident, but only touched by the Smart car.

The female driver (31) and her baby sustained injuries as well, but the extent of their injuries is not currently known. The male driver (37) is currently in critical condition.

A doctor took a blood sample from the 37-year-old at the hospital on order. The officers documented traces at the scene, secured the vehicles involved (Smart car and Suzuki), and drew up a traffic accident report. They also secured the 37-year-old's phone.

An attentive witness provided first aid at the accident site. The investigation by the traffic commissioners is ongoing.
