Valve's Deadlock Overhaul Unleashes Old Gods New Blood With Six Heroes and a Fresh Map

Valve has rolled out the Old Gods New Blood update for Deadlock, introducing major changes and fresh content. The patch arrived late on January 25, just hours after players spotted unusual activity near Valve's Seattle office. Fans are already celebrating the overhaul, with new heroes, a redesigned map, and a simplified game mode for beginners.

The update's release followed an odd clue: local pizza shops near Valve's headquarters saw a sudden rush of customers around 9:00 PM Pacific Time. Shortly after, at 11:56 PM CET, the patch went live. Players quickly took to Reddit to share their excitement, praising the new Old Gods theme and the sheer volume of additions.

The map has undergone a visual revamp, with team bases now themed around ancient deities. The user interface also received upgrades, including a more detailed scoreboard, boss spawn markers on the minimap, and tweaks to reveal enemies hiding behind cover. After matches, the screen now highlights the MVP alongside two other standout performers. Six new heroes are joining the roster, unlocked gradually every Monday and Thursday at 11:00 PM CET. The first debuted on January 26, chosen through community voting. Five were available by the end of January, while the final hero, Celeste, arrived on February 12. A new mode, *Streetbrawl*, offers a faster, simpler experience. Two teams of four battle on a single lane in three-minute rounds, aiming to destroy the enemy's first tower. The mode removes the item shop and streamlines the map, making it ideal for newcomers.

The Old Gods New Blood update brings significant changes to Deadlock, from hero releases to map redesigns and a beginner-friendly mode. Players have responded positively, particularly to the expanded content and improved visibility features. The patch is now fully live, with all six heroes available for play.
