Valmet's Wet End Analyzer boosts paper production efficiency with real-time monitoring
Valmet has unveiled a new Wet End Analyzer designed to improve efficiency in paper, board, and tissue production. The device helps stabilise wet end processes, ensuring better product quality while cutting water and energy use.
Meanwhile, Seaman Paper has launched a recyclable alternative to single-use plastic bags, and Mondi has secured a packaging supply deal with Südwestdeutsche Salzwerke. Valmet's Wet End Analyzer provides real-time measurements to keep wet end processes stable. It monitors total fibre, fines, and ash consistency from up to three production lines at once. The device also tracks oxygen levels, helping mills optimise biocide use and reduce chemical waste.
A new filtrate sampling feature allows thick stock analysis, giving producers deeper insight into fibre properties before they reach the headbox. Stable wet end conditions lead to fewer defects, lower energy consumption, and less water waste in manufacturing.
Elsewhere, Seaman Paper has introduced a heat-sealable, curbside-recyclable paper pack to replace plastic bags. The new line aims to cut single-use plastic waste while maintaining convenience for consumers.
In another development, Mondi will supply solid board packaging to Südwestdeutsche Salzwerke. The deal covers table salt, pharmaceutical-grade salt, and animal feed products, reinforcing Mondi's role in sustainable packaging solutions. Valmet's analyzer offers mills a way to boost efficiency and reduce resource use through precise process control. Seaman Paper's recyclable packs and Mondi's packaging contract reflect ongoing efforts to replace plastics and improve sustainability in the industry. The new technologies and partnerships aim to cut waste while maintaining product performance.
