Uzvaras Park's next phase brings sports, accessibility and community upgrades
The second phase of Uzvaras Park's redevelopment is set to begin soon. This time, the work will stretch from the central promenade toward Hermaņa Street. Planners promise a mix of new features based on what locals asked for in a recent survey. The project will cost less than the first phase but still brings major upgrades. Two multi-purpose sports grounds with double-sided stands are planned. These will host games and events all year round.
A cycle track designed for young children and wheelchair users will wind through the park. Nearby, sports equipment—including adapted options for people with disabilities—will be installed. Non-contact rental points will also let visitors borrow gear without hassle.
Residents had called for more places to relax and socialise. In response, a café area will be built, offering a spot to grab a drink or meet friends. Extra greenery will be added too, making the space feel fresher. A dedicated area for the Latvian national flag will complete the design, giving the park a touch of local pride. The redevelopment aims to create flexible spaces for exercise, leisure, and community gatherings. With new sports facilities, a café, and better accessibility, the park will serve more people in more ways. Construction will follow the survey's findings, ensuring the upgrades match what residents actually want.
