In the heart of Ohio, Oberlin College is a vibrant academic community that offers its students, employees, affiliates, and retirees a comprehensive ID card system. This card serves as a multifunctional tool, providing identification, access to college housing, dining halls, academic areas, and retail functionality.

First and foremost, it's important to note that only the cardholder is authorised to utilise OBIE dollars, Flex Points, or Dining Meal Plan Swipes from the account. This ensures the card's security and prevents unauthorised spending.

Privacy is another crucial aspect of the ID card system. Access to the account should be limited to the cardholder, with the exception of requested parents or guests. The college encourages responsible use and maintains a policy of confidentiality to protect the cardholder's information.

All active members of the Oberlin College community have an OCID (Oberlin College Identification number). In the event of a lost OCID, it can be replaced at the ID Card Office located in Mudd Center A055, or by contacting the Office of Campus Safety at 440-775-8444. It's essential to deactivate a lost or stolen OCID to prevent unauthorised access and potential misuse.

The ID card remains the property of Oberlin College, and the college reserves the right to repossess the card at any time. The college may also take repossession of the card if an individual fails to comply with the terms and conditions associated with the card's use.

New students are issued OCID cards when they arrive at Oberlin, marking the start of their student career. Each student is expected to use their original OCID during their entire student career to maintain consistency and ensure a smooth college experience.

The college has implemented a virtual and electronic ID card system, making it easier for cardholders to manage their accounts online. The authority to revoke or confiscate an OCID card when conditions are not met, other than Oberlin College, typically lies with the issuing institution or the designated administrative body responsible for managing the card.
