USA encourages Russia to transition towards peaceful relations with Ukraine

The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia has once again taken centre stage, following a large-scale attack on Kyiv that resulted in over 20 casualties. The attack has raised concerns globally, with the U.S. expressing its worry about Russia's actions in Ukraine.

In an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, U.S. Representative John Kelly repeated a warning from U.S. President Donald Trump about potential sanctions on Russia if the war in Ukraine continues. Kelly also demanded that Russia cease the strikes, questioning Russia's commitment to peace.

The threat of sanctions against Russia was formulated primarily by the USA, with former President Donald Trump expressing openness to further sanctions in order to pressure Kremlin leader Putin towards a peace solution in the Ukraine conflict. Additionally, Ukraine's President Zelensky called for strong sanctions to respond to Russia's aggression. European countries including Germany also imposed unprecedented sanctions and pledged to maintain pressure as long as Russia's attacks continued.

The Guardian reports that during the same meeting, U.S. Representative John Kelly suggested a meeting between Vladimir Putin, the Russian dictator, and Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine. This suggestion was made in the context of the ongoing conflict between the two countries.

However, no new information was provided about the commitment to peace or the demand for Russia to cease strikes during the meeting. The Guardian also reported no new information about the casualties or the large-scale attack on Kyiv.

As the situation in Ukraine continues to unfold, the world watches on, hoping for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The Guardian will continue to provide updates on the ongoing situation.
