Upheaval at the campsite - Latest installment of "Family Bundshoe" series
In the ninth episode of the ZDF comedy series "The Bundschuhs," titled "We're going camping," Gerald Bundschuh (played by Axel Milberg) and his wife Gundula (not specified) find themselves in a marital crisis, trying to find a solution.
Gerald, a self-centered character who often disregards his wife's needs, is described as the source of their constant strife. In an interview, Milberg revealed that the relationship between Gerald and Gundula is tense and competitive, with Gerald often treating their marriage like a race or competition.
The campsite, where the episode unfolds, is not Gerald's idea of a relaxing vacation. Despite his dislike for camping, he is willing to endure the discomfort to save his marriage. However, Gundula suspects that Gerald may have booked the vacation to impress his boss, Manfred, who is also present on the campsite.
Stefan Kuhlmann, the scriptwriter for "The Bundschuhs," has based the series on Andrea Sawatzki's novel series. Sawatzki, in a recent interview, suggested that if a marriage is so unbearable that partners can hardly stand each other, it might be best to separate.
Meanwhile, Susanne, played by Judy Winter, once again portrays an over-the-top character in the ninth episode. Another couple, Rose and Hadi, are not in focus in this episode. Rose, who is training to be a pastoral assistant, feels unappreciated by Hadi, who is still dreaming of making it big with a novel.
The episode primarily focuses on the marital issues between Gerald and Gundula. To create new perspectives for their marriage, Gerald surprises Gundula with a camper van and a campsite booking. However, the online separation test that Gundula takes results in a devastating outcome, leaving their future uncertain.
Tune in to ZDF at 8:15 PM to catch the ninth episode of "The Bundschuhs" and witness the ups and downs of Gerald and Gundula's tumultuous marriage. Directed by Franziska Meyer-Price, this episode promises an engaging and entertaining watch.
