Updated Tesla App Version 4.48.5 Introduces Compatibility with Model Y L and Performance Modifications, as well as New Paint Options and Rewards Program
In a recent update, Tesla's mobile app (version 4.48.5) has introduced a host of new features, including a digital achievement system called "Tesla Challenges." This feature allows owners to complete tasks and earn rewards, with references to API endpoints like CHALLENGES_GET_INFO and CHALLENGES_START.
The update also confirms backend support for two new Model Y versions: the Model Y L (BayberryE80 and MY2025cnplus) and the Model Y Performance (MYP) with a new "Ludicrous" trim (POPPYSEED_BAYBERRY_LUDICROUS). For Model Y owners, two new wheel options have been added: 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 wheels for the Performance variant and 19-inch Machina wheels designed for the Model Y L.
The app update also introduces a feedback survey tool, allowing owners to report issues related to FSD, service visits, Supercharging, deliveries, and robotaxi experiences. The survey tool is available only through the Tesla website.
Interestingly, the code within the app suggests that Tesla is developing ride-summoning capabilities, potentially for an in-app ride-hailing feature. The new features also include the use of Bluetooth and location services to streamline passenger pickup.
Tesla has expanded support for the Model Y L to all regions, possibly preparing for international deliveries such as those to Canada. The Model Y Performance has recently been unveiled for the European and Middle East markets, but the Model Y L is not expected to launch in the U.S. until late 2026, if at all.
The Model Y L, the longer six-seater version, is prepared and launched for the Chinese market with deliveries starting in September 2025; it is sold out through October and orders now push delivery timelines into November 2025. It is primarily targeted at China initially, with potential export to markets demanding larger family vehicles.
A new Silk Road Silver paint option, tagged as #2d2c2d, has been added to the app, potentially becoming a popular choice among buyers. However, the update does not provide information about new wheel options or paint colors for other Tesla vehicles.
New graphic assets, such as a trophy icon and a 1 million Powerwall badge, suggest that Tesla could tie these challenges to both vehicle and energy product milestones. Each submission generates an ECHO number, which Tesla uses to track and respond to feedback, indicating a more structured approach to customer support and product improvement.
The update does not provide specific details about the international launch of the Model Y L or the timeline for the launch of the Model Y L in the U.S. Tesla continues to innovate and expand its offerings, providing owners with exciting new features and options.
