Update on the incident: Blaze at a food manufacturing facility in Elmshorn; Firefighters and THW (Technical Rescue Unit) dispatched for extinguishing efforts
A fire incident has occurred at the GoodMills Innovation GmbH food processing plant in Elmshorn, Germany. The initial fire was reported in a pellet press around 11:30 p.m. last night.
According to the latest updates from Kreisfeuerwehrverband Pinneberg, the fire department has been working tirelessly to contain the blaze. The fire in the pellet press was extinguished after extensive and personnel-intensive work during the night. However, the fire has since spread to a 60-cubic-meter silo, which was filled with 10 to 15 cubic meters of grain dust.
The cause of the fire in the pellet press is not explicitly mentioned, but the fire in the silo was set ablaze by fine particles from the original fire that entered through the ventilation system and ignited the grain dust.
The fire department is currently operating at the food processing plant with the assistance of 20 firefighters from the volunteer fire departments of Elmshorn and Seester. The extinguishing work is complex due to the need to remove the material from the silo and extinguish it in a controlled manner. The affected company is building a special device for the removal of the material from the silo.
Sebastian Kimstaedt from Kreisfeuerwehrverband Pinneberg has been designated as the contact person for further questions. His contact details are: Telephone: 04120 8254 700, Fax: (04121) 265951, Email: [email protected]

The extinguishing work is expected to take several more hours, and the production residues can only be removed once the material has been safely removed from the silo.
