The Old Chancellery in Hanau Transforms into a Cultural Hub

The Old Chancellery, situated on Castle Square in Hanau, is undergoing a significant transformation, turning it into a vibrant cultural and meeting place. This ambitious project is being coordinated by LEONHARD WEISS GmbH & Co. KG, with Hanau Marketing GmbH (HMG) leading the development of a concept for the public use of the historic rooms for the coming years.

The revitalization of the Old Chancellery began in 2020 and, as part of this transformation, environmentally friendly renovation methods will be employed to ensure sustainability. The aim is to preserve the building's historical integrity while making it a modern and welcoming space for all.

Among the first highlights of the new cultural offerings at the Old Chancellery will be an inclusive Summer Party and Disco, taking place on August 22. The trio Jonas, Saman, and Julian will perform live, inviting audience participation, and offering free admission. Instruments will be provided for those who wish to join in the musical fun.

A second inclusive event, "DanceClub 4us - The inclusive Disco", is scheduled for October 9, with regular monthly discos to start from spring 2025. Lebenshilfe Hanau e.V. will be hosting these events, providing a platform for inclusivity and community engagement.

The "4us - Gebabbel and Music in the Courtyard" event on August 22 will also feature outdoor gastronomy, with plans for an outdoor dining area to continue even after the demolition of the "House of Crafts" at the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026.

Previous initiatives at the Old Chancellery include "Wirtschaft im Hof", Atelier Alte Kanzlei, and the renovation of the Chancellery Kneipe. These successes serve as a testament to the potential of the Old Chancellery as a thriving cultural and social hub.

The renovation of the Old Chancellery is expected to take months to years, with the transformation being carried out in stages due to the high costs associated with a complete renovation in accordance with monument protection.

As the Old Chancellery evolves, it promises to become a beacon of cultural and social activity in Hanau, offering a diverse range of events and experiences for all to enjoy. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project.
