Update: Aid shipments to Gaza Strip clear Kerem Shalom checkpoint.

Al-Kahera News hasn't mentioned the exact number of trucks that have already entered Gaza through Kerem Shalom, but it mentioned four fuel tankers had crossed the border. These fuel tankers were headed to hospitals in the Palestinian region. The head of the Egyptian Red Crescent in Al-Arish, Chaled Sayed, revealed to AFP that all 200 trucks should be able to enter Gaza on Sunday.

Hamas militants, an extremist Islamic group in control of Gaza, unleashed a surprising assault on Israel on October 7, resulting in more than 1170 Israeli casualties, as per Israeli reports. Moreover, 252 people were abducted in Gaza.

Israel has responded to the assault with major military actions in Gaza. As per the Ministry of Health in Gaza, around 35,900 people have perished due to these actions. However, these figures cannot be independently authenticated. The humanitarian conditions in the Palestinian territory continue to deteriorate rapidly.

In early May, Israel seized control of the Rafah border crossing. As a result, aid shipments to Gaza haven't been able to use it for transportation. Egypt will not reopen the border crossing until the Israeli army relinquishes control on the Palestinian side.

Nevertheless, on Friday, the White House announced that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt had reached an agreement with President Joe Biden in a phone conversation to allow aid conveyances for the Gaza Strip to pass through the Kerem Shalom border crossing, located four kilometers south of Rafah.

All aid parcels for the Gaza Strip destined from Egypt undergo scrutiny from the Israeli authorities and are ultimately distributed by the United Nations.
