Unwavering dedication to FC Bayern Munich:
Bundesliga 2024-25 Season Preview: FC Bayern Munich Remain Favourites
As the 2024-25 Bundesliga season approaches, defending champions FC Bayern Munich are once again the favourites to clinch the title. This prediction comes from a survey of 15 clubs, with only one team receiving votes, and 11 of them tipping Bayern as the champions.
Despite the departure of key players such as Thomas Müller, Leroy Sané, and Kingsley Coman, there is ongoing debate in Munich about the transfer strategy. Uli Hoeneß, a supervisory board member, has advocated for a loan player to strengthen the squad. Max Eberl, the sports director, is actively pursuing the signing of Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea, having reportedly been in contact with Nkunku's management and engaged in transfer talks between the clubs.
However, Bayern's dominance in the league is not without criticism. Heidenheim's Frank Schmidt stated that the gap in points between FC Bayern and other teams last season was large, and he doesn't believe other teams can close this gap. This sentiment is shared by some within Bayern, as there seems to be disagreement within the club about the direction they should take.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen, former champions, have lost their successful coach, Xabi Alonso, to Real Madrid this summer, as well as key players Florian Wirtz, Jonathan Tah, Granit Xhaka, Lukas Hradecky, and Jeremie Frimpong. This rebuilding process leaves a question mark over their chances for the upcoming season.
Other clubs are also making moves to challenge Bayern's dominance. Borussia Dortmund has made one high-profile transfer, signing Jobe Bellingham. RB Leipzig, who are facing a rebuilding process following their worst season since their Bundesliga promotion, are also looking to strengthen their squad.
Despite the competition, Vincent Kompany, coach of FC Bayern, wants the team to take a step forward, despite having over 80 points last season, and is not focused on the actions of other teams. Holger Badstuber, former national player, wrote in his column that FC Bayern is the only German club capable of reacting to the Premier League's dominance with transfers at a high price level.
Werder Bremen's new coach, Horst Steffen, stated that FC Bayern Munich have the best team, and Julian Schuster, Freiburg's coach, believes the competition will tighten up again. However, with Bayern's recent signing of Luis Díaz from FC Liverpool for around 70 million euros, they are showing their intent to maintain their position at the top of the league.
As the season begins, it remains to be seen whether Bayern's dominance will continue, or if other clubs can challenge for the title. One thing is certain, though - the 2024-25 Bundesliga season promises to be an exciting and competitive one.
