Unveiling AEROVENT ZERO: Groundbreaking China-bred Tech Textile moving towards a PFAS-free future.

ANTA Unveils Revolutionary Waterproof-Breathable Fabric, AEROVENT ZERO

In a groundbreaking development, Chinese sportswear giant ANTA has announced the launch of AEROVENT ZERO, a high-performance, PFAS-free, and bio-based waterproof-breathable membrane. This innovative fabric, developed in collaboration with Donghua University, marks a significant milestone in ANTA's sustainability roadmap and the global high-performance PFAS-free waterproof-breathable textile industry.

The journey of AEROVENT ZERO began in September 2023, when ANTA and Donghua University jointly introduced China's first independently developed high-performance waterproof-breathable membrane - AEROVENT. Since then, the R&D team has been tirelessly working to perfect this technology.

The development of AEROVENT ZERO leverages an internally developed, high moisture-conductivity bio-based polymer combined with micro- and nano-scale structural engineering. This unique combination results in a membrane that boasts a hydrostatic head of 18,000 mmH2O and a moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) of 7,000 g/(m2•24h), meeting international leading benchmarks.

AEROVENT ZERO is priced at roughly one-third the cost of comparable global fabrics, enabling broader access to high-performance waterproof-breathable textiles. This affordability, coupled with its superior performance, positions AEROVENT ZERO as a game-changer in the industry.

To align more closely with long-term sustainability trajectories, the R&D team used a bio-based polymer with approximately 20% bio-based content in AEROVENT ZERO. ANTA's commitment to sustainability is further demonstrated by its aim to increase the share of sustainable products to 50% and source 50% of raw materials from sustainable origins by 2030.

ANTA officially released AEROVENT ZERO in September 2025, marking another key milestone in the development of China's home-grown "AEROVENT". The new generation ANTA Waterproof Jacket featuring AEROVENT ZERO will roll out simultaneously to overseas markets, with projected sales surpassing 500,000 units by 2026.

The large-scale deployment of AEROVENT ZERO represents a distinct "China solution" for the global high-performance PFAS-FREE waterproof-breathable textile industry. It signifies that China has overcome a world-class industrial challenge and will reshape the competitive landscape of technical textiles.

In 2021, ANTA and Donghua University's Innovation Research Institute established a joint project to accelerate R&D in apparel innovation materials and fabric technologies. This collaborative effort has led to the successful development of AEROVENT ZERO, showcasing the power of partnership in driving innovation.

On August 28, 2025, ANTA unveiled China's first independently developed high-performance PFAS-FREE waterproof-breathable material, named AEROVENT ZERO. This unveiling marks the completion of the "final 99 km" of scientific and technological achievement transformation for ANTA.

The launch of ANTA AEROVENT ZERO is a testament to ANTA's in-house R&D pathway and its commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation in the sportswear industry. This development further cements ANTA's position as a leader in the global sportswear market, driving sustainability and innovation forward.
