Unveiled Preview: Ola's Fourth Generation Electric Car, Rickshaw, and LCV Models

In a significant move towards sustainable mobility, Ola Electric has unveiled its Gen 4 platform at the Sankalp 2025 event. The platform, powered by the new 4680 Bharat cell, was showcased powering various types of vehicles, including autorickshaws, light commercial vehicles (LCV), small cars, and even a new electric car concept.

The Gen 4 platform is expected to revolutionise the electric vehicle (EV) landscape with its 15% increase in energy efficiency compared to the Gen 3 platform. This efficiency boost is attributed to the new motor in the Gen 4 platform, which will boast a peak power output of 16 kW.

Ola Electric is focusing on making EVs more accessible and affordable. To this end, the company is manufacturing the battery cells for the Gen 4 platform at its Gigafactory facility, a move that is expected to reduce costs.

The first product in the Ola Gen 4 platform will be the Ola S1 scooter range, scheduled for sale by the first half of 2026. However, Ola is not limiting itself to two-wheelers. The company is developing an electric autorickshaw, aiming to disrupt the segment with smaller motors and in-house battery cell manufacturing.

In addition to the autorickshaw and scooters, Ola Electric is also working on an electric car, a project that was previously scrapped but has now been resumed with a focus on mobility and affordability. A small electric car was showcased in the video, resembling the Tata Nano and MG Comet.

While Ola Electric is making strides in the EV sector, it faces challenges. Many consumers have filed cases against the company in consumer courts, indicating a need for the company to address customer grievances.

CoreWeave Ventures, a venture capital firm that supports founders involved in developing next-generation platforms, is backing Ola Electric's Gen 4 platform. The firm provides investment, technical expertise, and cloud infrastructure tailored for AI applications.

The Gen 4 platform will be lighter than previous platforms, making it more efficient and suitable for a wider range of vehicles. It is worth noting that the new electric car concept based on the Gen 4 platform does not require an exclusive platform, further expanding its potential applications.

As Ola Electric continues to develop the Gen 4 platform and its various products, it is poised to make a significant impact in the EV industry, offering affordable and efficient solutions for everyday commuters.
