Unveiled Model: MG Cyber GTS as an Electric Coupe - Could this have been the evolution of the Ford Capri in an electric era?
New MG Cyber GTS and Ford Capri Shine in Euro NCAP Safety Tests
The automotive world is abuzz with the latest developments, as two highly anticipated electric vehicles have made their mark in the Euro NCAP safety tests.
Firstly, the new MG Cyber GTS, unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, has scored a maximum five stars in the safety tests. This electric, two-door, four-seat coupe, based on the MG Cyberster, is being considered a potential halo model for the brand. The entry-level version of the Cyber GTS boasts an impressive 335bhp, accelerating from 0-62mph in just 5.0 seconds. A more powerful twin motor version, with 495bhp, can reach the same speed in a lightning-quick 3.2 seconds.
MG is using the Goodwood Festival of Speed to gauge reaction to the Cyber GTS, which is produced by the Chinese automotive manufacturer MG (Morris Garages), owned by SAIC Motor Corporation.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Ford's next Volkswagen-based electric car will be badged as the Ford Capri. However, this new Capri is not the EV coupe many had hoped for. Instead, it is based on the Volkswagen ID.5, much like the new Ford Tourneo Courier, which received only three stars in the latest round of Euro NCAP safety tests.
Despite the disappointment for Ford Capri enthusiasts, the post-1968 Ford Capri continues to garner a lot of love, and over the years, there have been many discussions about a new Ford Capri.
In a separate development, the new MG HS has also earned a maximum five-star rating in the Euro NCAP safety tests, adding to the brand's growing reputation for safety and quality.
The spotlight remains on these electric vehicles as they continue to push the boundaries of innovation and performance. The MG Cyber GTS, with its impressive power and safety ratings, is certainly one to watch in the coming years.
