Baltic Ventures, a leading organisation championing business as a force for good, has unveiled its new cohort of digital tech startups at the annual Liverpool Slush'D event. The 10 companies, hailing from sectors such as PropTech, HealthTech, eCommerce, EdTech, and FinTech, are set to participate in the third annual Accelerator programme sponsored by Baltic Business Angels.

Claire Lewis, CEO of Baltic Ventures, expressed her pride in the cohort's belief that business can be a powerful force for good. "We are thrilled to welcome this diverse group of startups to our programme," she said. "Their innovative ideas and commitment to making a positive impact align perfectly with our mission."

Mo Aldalou, program director at Baltic Ventures, shared his excitement about the caliber of businesses and founders in the cohort. "The quality of applications this year was exceptional," he said. "We believe these startups have the potential to make a real difference in their respective industries."

The new cohort includes Aposto, a B2B SaaS platform designed for the complexities of football clubs, arenas, and live events, focusing on staffing and safety management. Plato, an AI-powered personal study assistant for university students, integrates with popular Virtual Learning Environments. NestBox Live, a smart birdhouse camera, delivers HD footage, AI-powered species detection, and a seamless app experience, reinventing wildlife observation.

Future Greens, tackling the £22bn problem of organic waste in the food and drink manufacturing industry, is another member of the cohort. SchoolSCR, automating safeguarding compliance for schools and Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs) in England, replaces error-prone spreadsheets with a real-time SaaS platform. ClassHoppa, an all-in-one digital platform for parents, helps find, book, and manage extracurricular activities for their children.

Loom, a digital platform using AI to power upcycling in fashion, addresses the issue of clothing waste. Chest, addressing the issue of pension under-saving among Millennials and Gen Z in the UK, is another innovative addition to the cohort. MaestroAI, an AI-powered infrastructure platform transforming the $4.4 billion skins trading market, rounds out the group.

Baltic Ventures has a history of supporting startups, having delivered or sponsored over 100 workshops, programs, and events since 2023. The organisation has also supported 60 founding teams through its Accelerator and Launchpad programs. Baltic Ventures' kick-off day on September 8 featured an impressive roster of mentors, angel investors, and SeedLegals co-founder and CEO Anthony Rose, who delivered an exclusive Q&A session on successful fundraising and scaling strategies.

The in-person program for the new cohort will take place in Liverpool and includes impactful masterclass sessions, one-to-one personalised coaching support, investment readiness training, and more. Baltic Ventures has invested £300,000 into the new cohort of companies, facilitating £1.1m of investment from 33 angel investors over the past two years.

Cllr Liam Robinson, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Cabinet Member for Innovation, emphasized the importance of Baltic Ventures and similar initiatives for the city region's growth. "Innovative startups like those in this cohort are crucial to our region's economic development," he said. "We are proud to support Baltic Ventures in their mission to nurture and grow these businesses."

With the new cohort officially underway, Baltic Ventures looks forward to supporting these innovative startups as they grow and make a positive impact in their respective industries.
