Unsuccessful break-in at a local hair salon
In the early hours of Monday morning (August 18), a 37-year-old man was arrested following an attempted break-in at a beauty salon on Weyer Street. The incident was observed by an employee via surveillance cameras around 1:45 AM.
According to the police, the suspect attempted to force open the entrance door of the salon. However, the arrested man was found hiding behind a power box, while his "getaway bicycle" was recovered by the officers.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the arrested man may have been involved in a previous break-in at the same salon on Saturday (August 16). The police are also investigating the allegation that a bicycle was stolen during the break-in.
The potential accomplice of the arrested man remains at large. Ongoing investigations are focusing on this fleeing accomplice, who is believed to have been involved in the burglary at the same salon on the preceding Saturday. Police are also investigating a possibly stolen bicycle used for escape.
Two suspects were initially seen during the attempted break-in, but only one was arrested. The video footage from the beauty salon's surveillance cameras also documents the incident that occurred on August 17.
The police are urging anyone with information regarding the fleeing accomplice or the incident to come forward. The investigation is still ongoing.
