Unraveling strategies for dementia control and prevention
On Tuesday, September 9th, the Landshut City Library, in collaboration with the Niederbayern Dementia and Care Centre, is hosting an enlightening event titled "Hands-on Dementia". This event aims to foster understanding and empathy for those affected by dementia.
The highlight of the event is a lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. Ulrike M. Fröhlich, a renowned gerontologist, titled "Prevention in Dementia - Memory Loss is Not Fate". The lecture will take place in the lecture hall of the Salzstadel at 1:30 PM.
The lecture will provide insights into current research findings on dementia prevention and demonstrate ways to reduce risks and strengthen memory in the long term. Following the lecture, there will be a Q&A session for attendees to ask questions and engage in discussion.
The event is not just a lecture, but an immersive experience. It consists of 13 interactive stations, allowing visitors to experience daily life from the perspective of a person with dementia. This unique approach underscores the importance of dementia prevention and encourages empathy and understanding.
Admission to the course and lecture is free, and no registration is required. The course is open on Tuesday, September 9th from 10 am to 4 pm and on Wednesday, September 10th from 10 am to 12 pm.
Throughout the event, experts from the Niederbayern Dementia and Care Centre will be on hand to provide guidance and support. The city library will also provide a selection of guides and specialist literature on dementia for attendees to explore.
