UNLV and ROGA Launch AiR Hub to Study AI's Role in Gambling Responsibly

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) International Gaming Institute has teamed up with the Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) to launch a new research initiative. The AI Research Hub, or AiR Hub, will explore how artificial intelligence is changing the gambling sector. Its aim is to set industry standards for responsible AI use in gaming.

The project brings together academic expertise and industry leaders to address both the risks and benefits of AI technology in this field.

AiR Hub will serve as a central platform for AI-focused research within the gaming industry. It plans to develop benchmarking systems for key AI technologies and create governance tools for regulators and operators. The goal is to establish best practices that ensure AI is used responsibly in gaming environments.

Dr. Kasra Ghaharian, director of research at UNLV's International Gaming Institute and co-founder of AiR Hub, highlighted the importance of this partnership. His team will work closely with ROGA to shape research priorities that reflect real-world industry needs. ROGA's executive director, Dr. Jennifer Shatley, will join AiR Hub's Industry Advisory Panel. Her role will involve guiding research directions and ensuring they align with the demands of gaming operators and regulators. The collaboration builds on ROGA's existing efforts, such as its recent *Know Your Play* campaign, which educated college-age individuals about responsible gambling. While ROGA has previously partnered with major institutions to promote awareness of responsible gaming, this new initiative marks a deeper focus on AI's impact. AiR Hub aims to become the leading ecosystem for AI research in the sector, driving innovation while prioritising trust and accountability.

The launch of AiR Hub signals a structured effort to integrate AI safely into the gambling industry. By combining academic research with industry insights, the hub will develop tools and standards to guide operators and regulators. The partnership between UNLV and ROGA sets a foundation for long-term collaboration on responsible gaming in the age of AI.
