Manchester United Legend, David De Gea, Bids Farewell and Looks Ahead with Fiorentina

After a decade of exceptional service at Manchester United, goalkeeper David De Gea has bid farewell to the club's fans for the first time since joining Fiorentina last summer. The Spanish shot-stopper, who helped United win eight major honours during his time at Old Trafford, including the Premier League title in 2012-13, was given a special send-off by his former team-mate and current United captain, Bruno Fernandes.

De Gea, who received a special plaque from Fernandes as part of the tribute, played his final game for United in a pre-season friendly against Fiorentina. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with United winning 5-4 on penalties.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper is now focusing on his new chapter with Fiorentina. The Italian club are waiting to find out who they will face in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League playoff tie on 21 August. De Gea's next game with Fiorentina is on September 19, 2025, against Rapid Vienna in the UEFA Conference League group stage.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are preparing for their opening Premier League fixture of the 2025-26 season. They will host Arsenal at Old Trafford in their first game back in the top flight.

De Gea will undoubtedly be watching with interest as he continues to follow the progress of his former club, knowing that he played a significant role in their success during his time at the club. His legacy at Manchester United will live on, and he will always be remembered as one of the club's greatest ever goalkeepers.
