1. FC Union Berlin Women's Team Prepares for Bundesliga Debut

The women's team of 1. FC Union Berlin is gearing up for their historic debut in the Bundesliga next Sunday at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei. After a series of preparation games, the team is eager to put their skills to the test in the upcoming season.

Coach Ailien Poese, who will lead the team for the 2025/2026 season, has expressed confidence in her players' performance. She views the team's 0:1 defeat against Aston Villa as a learning experience, and is determined to bring consistency onto the field.

Nele Bauereisen, a key player on the team, identified the need for more calmness in possession and faster solutions for the team. She believes the team held their own against Aston Villa and wants to improve on simplicity in passes and finding solutions in the attack for their next game.

Anna Aehling, a new player on the team, feels welcome by her teammates and believes they are well prepared for the season. She noted that the team needs to be fully present in the two-on-one situations for their Bundesliga debut.

The women's team of 1. FC Union Berlin has already implemented a large part of what Coach Poese wants to see in the Bundesliga, particularly in terms of intensity and transitions. They have demonstrated this in their preparation games, which included a 3:2 win against Pogon Stettin, a 2:0 win against VfL Wolfsburg, a 1:3 defeat against Real Madrid, and a 0:1 defeat against Aston Villa.

Coach Poese notes that the team sometimes loses patience in their own possession, and this is an area they can still work on. Despite this, she remains optimistic about the team's potential and is excited to see them compete in the Bundesliga for the first time in the club's history.

The dragon boat event on 30.08.2025 is an annual tradition for fans of 1. FC Union Berlin, but it is not related to the football team's preparations for the Bundesliga season.

In their home game against fellow promoted side, Coach Poese will face her former club, 1. FC Nuremberg. The team's focus, however, remains on the upcoming Bundesliga season and making a strong debut in the league.
